School Tax Information

School Tax Collection Period

September-October

Online Payments

Paying online is easy and convenient but you will need your tax bill to enter the required information.
Credit & Debit Cards are accepted. (* Websites charge around a 3% fee per transaction when using credit/debit payment methods.)
E-Checks accepted ( This is your: Banking routing/accounts numbers,) (*Website charges up to $2.75 per transaction when using the E-check payment method.)
Payment may take a few days to go through.
Receipts and confirmations are void if payment is returned for insufficient funds/incomplete transactions.
Confirmations can be sent to your personal email when checking out.

In-Person Payments

If you wish to make an in-person payment, please do so at Community Bank located in Belmont NY.

Check payments

Checks are made payable to: Devan Healy Tax Collector or Genesee Valley Central School (GVCS) tax collector.
Please mail in the tax bill with payment or indicate on the check either the bill number, tax map/parcel ID number or address of the property you are making payment on.
No partial payments are accepted; full payment is required in order to process the transaction and funds will not be held.

Important Information

Tax bills should arrive in the first week of September.
Payment is due without penalty on September 30th.
Payment is due with penalty on October 31st.
Post-Marks are honored/accepted.
Payments are not accepted after the deadline and bills will be re-levied onto the January County/Town bill.

Please contact your assessor for any tax roll address changes you wish to make. This will affect where the bills are mailed to. Genesee Valley's tax collector nor the Allegany County Treasurer's office can make these changes or it must be done by the Assessor. If you need to add any third parties for billing, you can also do that with the assessor. However, it can take the assessor some time to make these changes.

If you are worried about changes not taking effect on time, please notify me of the change(s) as well.

If you simply just need a one-time change for the current school tax bill to be sent to a different address and not a permanent change, please email/call or mail in a request before August 25th so it will be noted before bills are sent out. If done after bills are sent, a copy of the bill will be sent to both locations. If you have any questions, please reach out.

Q: I never received my GVCS tax bill; what do I do?

A: Contact Genesee Valley's tax collector for a copy. See Overview page for contact information.

Q: If I never received my tax bill, am I responsible for the late fees?

A: Yes, it is the property owner's responsibility to make sure they obtain their tax bill.

Q: I need to make an address change; how do I do that?

A: Please contact the assessor in the correct town for that specific property. See resources and information tab for contact information.

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?

A: Check/Debit/Credit/Money orders/and Cash are all acceptable forms of payment. Cash payments must be made at Community Bank in Belmont, NY.

Q: Where can I send my school tax bill payment(s)?

A: Check/Money orders can be mailed to Genesee Valley, credit cards can be processed online and cash/check/money orders can be taken at Community Bank, Belmont, NY.

Q: Do you accept post marks?

A: Yes, we honor post marks.

Q: Is there a fee for paying late?

A: Yes, you will see on your bill there is a September amount and an October amount. The October amount reflects a late fee.

Q: Can I pay for my takes online?

Q: I don't have any kids that go to Genenesee Valley School, do I still have to pay the school taxes?

A: School tax bills are sent to anyone who owns property in the Genesee Valley Central School district. Taxes are based off property location, not if you have a student attending the school.

Q: I need a copy of my tax bill or receipt. Where can I obtain a copy?

A: Call/Email the GVCS tax collector during school hours for a copy. You can also obtain a copy from the Allegany County Treasurer's office.

Q: When are taxes due?

A: Tax payment deadlines are indicated on the bottom left side of your tax bill. However, they are due without penalty on/near September 30th and with penalty on/near October 31st. Taxes are not Payable after October 31st.

Q: What are the school tax collectors' hours?

A: The tax collector works normal school hours, and will be available to assist you from 7:30 to 3:30 Monday - Friday with the exception of holidays. If you need to make an in-person payment, please do so at Community Bank N/A in Belmont, NY during their lobby hours listed below:

Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Closed Saturday & Sunday

Under current IRS guidance and the Paperwork Burden Reduction Act, employers are no longer required to automatically mail Form 1095-C (Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage) to employees. Form 1095-C provides information about health coverage that was offered to you during the prior calendar year. Although this document is not required to be attached to your federal income tax return, you may still need or want it for your personal records.
