Q: If I never received my tax bill, am I responsible for the late fees?
A: Yes, it is the property owner's responsibility to make sure they obtain their tax bill.
Q: I need to make an address change; how do I do that?
A: Please contact the assessor in the correct town for that specific property. See resources and information tab for contact information.
Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: Check/Debit/Credit/Money orders/and Cash are all acceptable forms of payment. Cash payments must be made at Community Bank in Belmont, NY.
Q: Where can I send my school tax bill payment(s)?
A: Check/Money orders can be mailed to Genesee Valley, credit cards can be processed online and cash/check/money orders can be taken at Community Bank, Belmont, NY.
Q: Do you accept post marks?
A: Yes, we honor post marks.
Q: Is there a fee for paying late?
A: Yes, you will see on your bill there is a September amount and an October amount. The October amount reflects a late fee.

Q: I don't have any kids that go to Genenesee Valley School, do I still have to pay the school taxes?
A: School tax bills are sent to anyone who owns property in the Genesee Valley Central School district. Taxes are based off property location, not if you have a student attending the school.
Q: I need a copy of my tax bill or receipt. Where can I obtain a copy?
A: Call/Email the GVCS tax collector during school hours for a copy. You can also obtain a copy from the Allegany County Treasurer's office.
Q: When are taxes due?
A: Tax payment deadlines are indicated on the bottom left side of your tax bill. However, they are due without penalty on/near September 30th and with penalty on/near October 31st. Taxes are not Payable after October 31st.
Q: What are the school tax collectors' hours?
A: The tax collector works normal school hours, and will be available to assist you from 7:30 to 3:30 Monday - Friday with the exception of holidays. If you need to make an in-person payment, please do so at Community Bank N/A in Belmont, NY during their lobby hours listed below:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Closed Saturday & Sunday
- Holiday hours may vary.
