I am SO excited to begin my 4th year in 4Pk!  I began teaching in Rochester, NY waaayyyyyy back in 1996.  I taught 4th grade for many years and truly loved it!  In 2002 I was hired by GVCS to continue teaching 4th grade.  I was lucky enough to begin working in the brandy new building that you know and love today!  It was such an exciting time for everyone!  At that time, I was still very busy as a 4th grade teacher....growing and learning along with my students.  During those years, I was lucky enough to meet my (now) husband, Matt Hopkins, get married and have two beautiful children...Emma (age 13) and Olivia (age 10).  Several years ago I began teaching Kindergarten and I thought I had found the grade that I would teach until I retired.  Not true, as I now know.  I was given the AMAZING opportunity to teach Genesee Valley's littlest youngsters, the 4 year olds.  I have to admit, I was SCARED!!  However, as soon as I met those wonderful little people, my mind was made up!  Since then, every day has been pure joy!  The laughter, smiles and learning opportunities have continued.  I am reminded WHY I became a teacher and the importance of the relationships that we have with the students and their families.  I am very thankful for my GVCS family and the opportunities that they give their students!  I can not WAIT to meet all of my NEW students for THIS year!  I am positive that we are going to have a wonderful year together even though it is going to be a VERY DIFFERENT experience to say the least!
