Elementary

Elementary students can be dropped off at the elementary main doors in front of the school.

Secondary

MS/HS students can be dropped off in the small drop-off circle in front of the school.

Student Drivers

Student drivers will park in the back row of the front parking lot.
Please note that all doors behind the school will be locked and unavailable for student entry. Thank you for helping us make arrival safer and more efficient for everyone

Elementary Students

PK3 to grade 6 students riding the bus will exit out of the main elementary doors (same doors used for morning drop-off)

PK3 to grade 6 Students being picked up by an adult will be picked up in the pool vestibule behind the school.

• PK3/PK4 will head to the pool vestibule at 2:52 p.m.
• Kindergarten/1st Grade will head to the pool vestibule at 2:55 p.m.
• 2nd/3rd Grades will head to the pool vestibule at 2:58 p.m.
• 4th Grade will head to the pool vestibule at 3:00 p.m.
• 5th/6th Grades will head to the pool vestibule at 3:05 p.m.

We will follow the same process at the pool vestibule that we follow in the front of the building: students will be released to their family/authorized pick-up person when that person comes to the door. All adults will remain outside of the building.

Secondary Students

Students riding the bus will exit the doors across from the flagpole.

Students being picked up will exit through the doors near the small parking lot.

FAQs

What if an older student (grades 7-12) has younger siblings?

• The older student will go to the pool vestibule for pick-up, so the family only needs to manage one pick up area.

What about students who stay after school for sports and may be in the pool vestibule?

• Elementary dismissal will be completed before most secondary students staying for sports arrive. If there is any overlap, designated tables will be used for these students so elementary pick-up can continue safely and without disruption.

How do those in the pool vestibule area communicate with the main office or welcome center if there is an issue?

• There will always be at least one staff member in the pool vestibule area who can facilitate communication.

Classroom teacher assignments will be announced via ParentSquare on August 20, 2026.

To participate in athletics and extracurricular activities, students in grades 7–12 are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Academic eligibility reports are generated weekly when school is in session. Academic eligibility will be determined based on grades submitted by 9:00 a.m. each Monday. Assignments submitted after this deadline will not be used to determine eligibility. Once a student has been placed on academic probation or has become academically ineligible, they will remain on probation or be ineligible until the next academic eligibility report is generated.

If a student is failing one or more classes:

First occurrence: The student will be placed on academic probation for one week. When the next academic eligibility report is generated:

• If the student is failing one class, they will remain on academic probation and may continue participating in athletics and extracurricular activities.
• If the student is failing two or more classes, they will become academically ineligible.

Academic Probation

Students may continue to participate in all athletic practices, games, competitions, and extracurricular activities while working to improve their grades.

Academically Ineligible

Students may not participate in athletic practices, games, competitions, or extracurricular activities until they regain eligibility based on the next academic eligibility report.

All students are required to store their backpacks and any other bags in their assigned locker during the school day. Student lockers, physical education lockers, and all school-issued locks are the property of Genesee Valley Central School, not the individual student. Only school-issued locks may be used on lockers. Personal locks will be removed without prior notice.

The school is not responsible for the theft or loss of personal items stored in lockers. Any items left in lockers or remaining in the Lost and Found at the end of the school year will be discarded or donated to local charities.

Backpacks are subject to search. Glass containers are not permitted at school. Students may not place stickers on lockers or write in or on lockers.

Bus Pick Up and Drop Off

The transportation department at GVCS makes the transportation of our students as safe and efficient as possible. The school has encountered parents requesting that their child or children be dropped off or picked up in different locations on different days of the week. Please keep in mind that changing pick up and drop off locations is very confusing for students, teachers, office staff, and bus drivers and it creates unnecessary problems with our bus routes. If changes are going to be requested, a bus change request form must be filled out and received by 12:00 noon at the welcome desk on the day of the change. No requests will be accepted after 12:00 noon. The change request form is available on our website. No changes will be accepted by phone unless there is an emergency. Mailers will be sent out with pick up and drop off times and also posted in Power School. Please allow for a 10-minute window the first week of school.  

Bus Information

Transportation of students on the school bus is a privilege and an extension of the classroom. Rules for student behavior are as much in force on the bus as in the school facility. School authorities can deny this privilege to any child who is insubordinate or disorderly.

Bus Rules

1. Be on time at your stop. During inclement weather, driving conditions warrant extreme safety. Therefore, to maintain our time schedule, it is advisable to expect your bus to arrive early, especially if your stop is at the beginning of the trip. Please plan accordingly.
2. Parents should bring their children to school if they miss the bus.
3. Wait until the bus comes to a full stop before attempting to get on or off.
4. Go immediately to a seat (the bus driver may assign seats) and remain seated until the  bus comes to a complete stop or arrives at the school.
5. Help keep the bus clean.
6. Do not destroy property.
7. Violence is prohibited.
8. No objects shall be passed through an open window.
9. Keep arms, hands, and head inside the bus
10. Be sure to take all belongings with you when you leave the bus.
11. Do not distract the driver while the bus is in motion.
12. Be a courteous and responsible passenger at all times.
